What Rebirth Changes

Failure is part of Survival Log's progression loop. Rebirth choices determine how far you rewind and what knowledge or progression you carry into another attempt. Read the current selection screen carefully because the consequences differ.

Tear Up This Round and Rewrite

v1.0.14878 added a fourth option named Tear Up This Round and Rewrite. Official notes confirm that it:

• returns you to the first day before the current round's disaster;
• refunds all Planning Points spent on abilities during that round;
• lets you reallocate those refunded points;
• does not consume a respawn chance.

It appears on the respawn selection page after death and at the tear-off position beside the current-round tab in the Survival Log. The feature applies to newly started cycles after the update.

When to Rewrite a Round

Use it when the run's structure is wrong rather than merely unlucky:

• Planning Points went into abilities that do not support your current plan;
• your pre-disaster shopping route left a critical system impossible to build;
• you learned a better route but want to keep the cycle framework;
• a power, food, or defense strategy needs a full reset.

Do not rewrite automatically after one bad exploration result. A recoverable shortage may cost less than repeating the entire round.

Planning Point Reallocation

Plan the refund before confirming:

1. Name the failure: food, power, time, defense, or progression.
2. Choose abilities that directly address that failure.
3. Reserve flexibility for patch-sensitive systems.
4. Rebuild the pre-disaster route around the new allocation.
5. Record what changed so the next result is comparable.
