Survival Log's official material confirms fuel generators, solar panels, batteries or energy storage equipment, and power cuts. Exact output and consumption values can change, so use the live appliance panel for arithmetic.

Set Appliance Priorities

Use three tiers:

1. Critical: refrigerator, freezer, Cold Storage, and event-critical equipment.
2. Scheduled: workbench-related machines, Ration Press, Electric Oven, and other production.
3. Optional: decorative lights and comfort loads when reserves are low.

Do not run every machine simply because power is available. Schedule production, then return capacity to food preservation and emergency needs.

Fuel Generator and Auto-Start

Multiple updates fixed generator auto-start state, fuel use after loading, and electrical display problems. If auto-start does not behave as expected:

• confirm fuel is available;
• inspect connected battery or storage state;
• toggle auto-start off and on in the current interface;
• test with one known load;
• reload only after recording the visible state;
• update before following an older workaround.

The official notes do not confirm one universal generator location. Place it where your character's home supports clear access and a manageable power plan.

Solar and Energy Storage

Warehouse Manager journey events can unlock solar panel and energy storage recipes. The College Student Home also has initial large solar panels referenced in official fixes. Do not transfer exact output assumptions between those homes: the August 24 update adjusted the Student panels to match panels of the same specification.

Treat solar as generation and storage as timing. A system with good daytime output can still fail overnight if capacity or load control is poor.

Outage Checklist

1. Check whether the outage is whole-house or equipment-specific.
2. Preserve refrigeration before restarting optional loads.
3. Confirm batteries and generator auto-start.
4. Reopen affected machine interfaces after power returns.
5. Check food freshness displays and item details.
6. Verify decorative and main lights returned normally.

Generator availability and placement depend on the home, shop, progression, and current objective. Official notes do not provide one universal map coordinate.

Is solar better than diesel?

They solve different problems. Solar supplies renewable generation; a fuel generator gives controllable backup. Storage and load priority determine whether either system survives an outage.
